twirling to a melody that disquised the reflection,
you appeared with a smile and a heart
that beat with a cool exciting rhythm.
Touching my fingers and
circling
my mind, you
drew me into emotions
I never quite knew how to trust,
but for one brief moment
I allowed myself to be real,
I stepped outside the fear and
forgot who I was

Now, I ask, do I dare paint this
sweeping color, this disturbance
that pierces my heart.
Do I cradle the sadness,
until you enfold the experience
of a
mouth filled with ashes whispering good bye.
Do I expose my nakedness, my vulnerability?
Do I allow you to see the reason I left, was not because
I no longer loved you, I feared
someday, you would open shaded eyes, viewing that
which I truly am, and you would no
longer be able to love me.
