Just another Sunday Morning The sky would not turn off the crimson clouds that dotted periwinkle, but the ground denied the moon that still hung onto the early morning light in paper plates of yearning and Styrofoam dance, coupled and tumbling the city woke with curled clothing in doorways cold home and only matted hair looked up to that perfect morning sky. Even the buildings were stretching and clean in the up there away from where windows cold watched and pointed rooftops avoided the earth that planted them. A string of a woman all miss-patched and bouncing sang a hymn so sweet voiced that eyes that didn’t see turned. She was covered with the fog of madness as she swallowed the dollar into the folds of her need and when someone said I’ll pray for you she danced around her body fighting with itself as she sad no, no, no then disappeared into the nameless street where wretchedness lays down and people step over it into just another Sunday. |

I truly enjoy your work! This is the second piece I have read from you, and I love the way you describe. Good poem! "We have all these galaxies inside of us. And if we don't enter those in art, then I don't understand the point in doing anything."-Sam Shepard |

Martie~ 'The sky would not turn off the crimson clouds that dotted periwinkle, but the ground denied the moon that still hung onto the early morning light' And oh, my gosh .... have I seen that sky ! I just could never describe it quite the way you do. The rest is just pure poignancy ! Girl, you've got such a unique way of telling me what I should be seeing in this world ! Do they make 'Martie-Lenses' ? Well, they should ! ![]() Love you ~ ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Martie I am in constant awe of the scenes your poems paint, this one was no exceptation. Wonderfully written. "Beyond all this good is the terror,The grip of a mercenary hand,When savagery turns all good reason, There's no turning back, no last stand,"I.Curtis |

What a startling picture of an average Sunday--and shame on me, for dreading cooking the Sunday dinner...worlds within worlds within worlds, and you protrayed that beautifully! |
