![]() The Widow's Bite Removeth thouself from my mind, cast thouself from my thoughts, Giveth me one free breath unfettered by visions of thou enchantress heart. Taketh thou entrancing spirit, fly it far beyond the aura of mine awareness; far beyond thine ability to extract from mine beleaguered senses, all will. Giveth me just one moment of peace free from the clutches of thou golden web, thou snare of hungry hearts unaware thou is but a dream tainted by another's curse. Be gone mine love, mine wondrous wish, be gone from me; so far take thee that life itself forgets; leave mine heart in all it's pieces not knowing why it dreads each day or why such tears, like miseries rain, ceaselessly flow. Be gone, removeth thouself, giveth me just a breath of clean, sweet air to clear mine thoughts, mine soul of you; release me from these tortured cravings that kill me surely as the widow's bite. w.james beard, jr. Depends if it is referring to one or several, I think one is enough, though!! Great poem! I could feel the level of stress created by the temptation. Excellent! Denise |
