Nature’s Fury The air grows still in the night As the wind slowly begins Static in the horizon… sizzling As electricity cackles in the air The tension grows… thunder builds Angry explosion pound in the sky The sky lighting up in brilliance Rain thrashing against the earth Lights flicker...fighting to hold on Against nature’s fury at the night The wind whips… The thunder bellows… The lighting flashes… The rain fall like tears The intensity grows… Tree’s outstretched arms dancing River’s waters wildly raging Debris flying, tossing, whipping At the winds merciless will Slowly as the anger is spent And the wind and rain edges away… The sound of thunder a mere echo Lightening fading away, a mere flash As the familiar hush of still night Blankets the surroundings Nature’s fury subdued |

this is beautiful imagery, so inviting of a storm, so real. I love it! Kathleen |

This really brought the sights and sounds of a cyclone back to me. Brilliant, Rosepetals. Dee |

Thank you both for your gracious comments. I posted another poem about a storm awhile back, so I wasn't sure if I wanted to post this one or not. Thanks for stopping in to read |
