(a rewrite from spring '99 for an imagined lady-
contemporized for a real one)

My love shall get a bouquet
I'll deliver it today
With it will come a message
Some things I want to say:

These daisies speak my love for you
I picked them one by one
Gathered from the roadside wild
As they soaked in the sun

The roses in the bouquet
From a florist had to come
For it's too late in season
But your beauty they become

I stuck in some forget-me-nots
Knew the message would be clear
Buttercups and heather too
Hoped they'd brighten your day drear

I'm not a florist - no
I think I'd fail at that
But you know what I want to say
And these won't leave me flat

So if I'm welcomed with these buds
(I'm hoping that you will)
I've also got a bit of wine
That you can put to chill

Fall evenings can be cold you know
You'll let me build a fire
As you slice the cake I've brought
I'm melting with desire

And so I'm standing at your door
Anticipation running high
There's your welcome: Open arms
As we kiss with mounting sigh

~You have to have a dream so you can get up in the morning.

Bill--What a lovely boquet and precious thoughts from your heart displayed--sounds so very romantic.

Here it is 107 degrees though, I sure look forward to the day when I can light a fire in the fireplace...sounds wonderful!

Oh, this is truly magnificent, Mr. Yeats. How could she not welcome you with all the gifts of love you bring, not to mention your heart?    Great writing..every girl likes flowers!!

Today is a gift....
That is why they call it
'the Present'!

What a colorful bouquet you bring to us to read.  If the flowers dont get her your heart will no doubt.

What a lovely bouquet...the flowers are
beautiful as well...it has been a very very
long time since flowers were delivered to me
but as I recall they are a nice touch on an
already tender moment such as this~

Martie-

Tis surly cool enough for a fire here- sorry about the 107 - that is death valley hot - I know why you were going 'down down'
Thank you

Sunny-

I learned  early in my adult life - it is the ephemeral things in life that are often more valued than the permanent -(like jewelry)
but they should be given often and never as an apology-
I'm sure you will get many more bouquets
Thank you

Butterflies -
Don't ever stop believing - the flower man is coming Thank you
