The stuff of love

What do I know of the stuff of love?
Of the sweetened strychnine of its why?
What proclivity flies to loose the dove?
Or is it only the subjective I?

Who can untie its Gordian knot
Bring solid light the stygian night?
Who can fence the eternal plot?
Burn the senses a steady bright?

Play with the multitudes of demand
With constant bouquets of rainbows wile?
Conquer the gestures of command
Live the life of chameleon style?

Do I exaggerate the view
Are pressures of love ever done?
Is some or all of this not true?
Are hearts completely ever won?

Maybe love is a finite thing,
A drone never meant to be king.

Seymour~
'stygian night'
My, my ... that's such a wonderful find.

'Are hearts completely ever won?'
Well, you've won mine !

Just keep droning along, my friend.
'Drone - A male bee, especially a honeybee, that is characteristically stingless, performs no work, and produces no honey.
Its only function is to mate with the queen bee.'

Hmmmmm !  Now THAT sounds like a full-time job to me !   Buzzzzzzzzzz !
Love you and your wonderful mind !

Reading you is like sipping fine wine ...
it gets sweeter and finer with time.
Your gift is your perfection of cadence and rhyme,
your vocabulary is beyond sublime.
You awe me with each verse and every line,
From conception to completion ...Poetry you define.

"What do I know of the stuff of love?".... ahhhh Sy... very good question... what does anyone know? it just is, that's all... it really is everything... the reason we are here... there can never be enough of it... and your words and phrasing here are lovely...

finite? OMG, no way... no, not finite... as infinite as the universe and as endless as the sea...

oh... WAIT... maybe you're right!!! hehe... come to think of it, it's as finite as marriage #1 and marriage #2 and all the other little love affairs that come and go... LOL

aw geez... i'm soooo confused... but what do I know of the stuff of love? not much, apparently

~ all you can really ever expect out of life is a sincere apology and some decent poetry ~

Sy,
What do you know of the stuff of love, pretty much everything if this poem is anything to go by.

Be well
Kethry.
