If I give you my words
written upon the pages
of a flipbook that I've made
to be read through the ages

If I give you my paintings
my drawings from the soul
pasted and glued on sheets
from hands that paid the toll

If I give you these feelings
my love bound in a book
all scrambled up together
would you even take a look

Would you cherish this forever
would you see what does impart
when you hold this book close to you
in your hand you'd hold my heart

Wow!   What a delightful nugget of poetry to find here. I can relate to this, and have often wondered the same things of different people. In reading my writing, they read my heart.   Excellent.

Nothing can deter a poet, for he is actuated by pure love. Who can predict his comings and goings? "Thoreau"

Lori, I like this one. As I've said before you are a "mood writer". I sense a pensiveness, and an air of nostagia as you wrote this one. I really enjoyed it, and I'm glad that you are posting at Passions.

This is a gem of a poem...
I've read it twice I adore the soft flow of rhyme you've entwined...
I look forward to reading many more...

Welcome to the Forum!  Passions has everything-if you want critique, they have that, if you want to share your words more casually,it's the best place in the world to touch another heart and have your own enriched, I believe.
I like the honesty in this, and the flow is a very easy read. Again, welcome.

Thanks for the positive comments guys.  Sorry I posted and dashed off to a boyscout campout and a hike this morning and then off to the county fair this afternoon.  I'm bushed but will come here tomorrow to read and comment on others posts.  You guys sure do write a lot, this place fills up fast!

This was a great piece. I loved the style and the rhyme you had within. I've always wondered if the person who read my work knew that they were holding a piece of my heart.

Welcome to Passions. I became addicted to it when I first found it. You won't be able to read all the post here, but the ones you do read will be excellent.

lb,

That was great!  All too often, people take for granted, or, don't even realize, the beautiful thing they hold in their hands.  Nicely written!
