To Touch the Wind

Flying across the plowed field
Hands thrown high
Hair flowing behind

A girl sits on the back of a horse
It's easy for her to touch the wind
All she has to do is be with her horse

Some say she's crazy
"You're way too attached-
She isn't even yours"

But somehow when she's riding
Their whispered words dissapeared
For by riding her horse
She has flown with the wind

She knows she has to give her up soon
That she'll miss her and watch her go
Tears streaming down her face

But for now-
She's decided to go to her horse
Saddle her up, and once more
~Touch the wind~

~Anyone else with horses feel this way?~

Time flies? Say it not so, time stays we go.

Very lovely and Yes I used to but don't have one now.  It isn't always that way though and sometimes it is a friend on two legs we have to give up.  Excellent read

I have a poem I wrote about riding my horse (twas a book submission too) called "To Drink the Wind". I think everyone who has ever loved a horse can relate to this

Oh yes, I can relate so well. I remember rounding up the horses and going for a midnight ride under the moon in the sand dunes.
There is just something about "Feeling Free" on your horse.
Thanks for Sharing Cuddlez...I so much enjoyed this piece!   Brought me back to a great time in my life!

Makes me feel ten again (when I was obsessed with horses, and before boys took over).

Cuddlez~
Oh, you've captured the feeling of moving as one
with the great spirit of the horse.

Nicely done.

Mark: Yes, I know the pain of giving up 2 legged friends too. Going through both of those pains right now.

Eloise: Thanks a lot

X-Angel: I didn't know that. Have to look for that one... Great minds think alike.

Irie: Glad I could help. Never gone for a ride that late at night. Guess I'll try it one of these days.

Grand: Its funny, horses came into my life at a time when boys come into manys...

Beth: Glad I could take you back in time. Memories can be great, eh?

Marge: Thanks for the compliments... Really appreciated them. '-).

No, I don't know much about horses, but I do know the pain of having to give up our "two-legged" friends, and how you try to savor and make last the vital moments you can salvage.  Great poem!!

Sometimes I don't think the amount of legs a person has necessarily makes it any easier or not. Thanks for commenting snowpants. Were did you get that name from?

Well, I definitely agree with you.  Anything that we "connect" with, no matter who or what it is, it's never easy to part with.

And, about my name, it's a semi-long story....

Losing anything we love is painful, thanks for reminding us to make the most of what we have while we still have it. Lovely poem.

Well, I've heard of the show, but I'm not familiar enough with it to know what frog means.
I don't want to disappoint you, but, the story behind the name isn't all that exciting.  I'll try to keep it short:
my co-worker was talking about her son needing 'snow pants,' and I just wasn't listening to her, and I had her repeat it at least five times, and the last time she said it, she got pretty loud, something not typical of her.  So, she e-mailed me, "I SAID SNOWPANTS!!!"  So, now, that's the big joke. Sorry if it's not that funny, but it really was at the time.
Now that I've finally explained, please further explain 'frog.'

i see how you got your nick now )
thanks birdeeb- seen and helped put MANY animals down lately- i work at a vet office
