full moon casts its glow
over the heart of the city
as I walk the street alone
siren in the distance
wails a song too often heard
but it's not as loud as
     the screaming of my heart
          the screaming of my soul

what do I have to scream about?
isn't this what I wanted?
yes, but to acknowledge failure
is, perhaps the greatest
defeat
to have given your all and yet
     come up short
doesn't make it any easier

the wind whispers
or do I think I hear it whisper?
these days I'm not so sure

the fountain dances
colors changing like the wind I think I hear
pattern changing
is my life changing?
it's Tuesday night in the heart of the city

the sirens still wail. . .

John--there is such a pervasive loneliness about this piece...as I used to (most dangerously) do the same thing...but every step, is a step onward, yes?   You caught the heart of aloneness in a crowd here...and I understand.   Smiles.

Sven~
This is just a lovely piece.
I can sense the lonliness in it ...

'what do I have to scream about?
isn't this what I wanted?
yes, but to acknowledge failure
is, perhaps the greatest
defeat
to have given your all and yet
     come up short
doesn't make it any easier'

You got that right.
Great read.

This is deeply rooted in the sadness of lifes ups and downs. Thank God when we can dig our way out to see the sun shine again.

Perception of life...are we living, or simply pretending to live...? Wonderfully thought provoking composition, my friend.

Oh Sven I too know the feeling of feeling like a failure and I felt your pain in this. Those walks are gonna get easier, trust me. Such a beautiful piece here my friend.
