I gave you my love
All I had and much more
You just stood there mute
And closed every door

You said that your love
Was carefree and loose
But all that you loved
Was giving abuse

I knew that our love
Could keep us afloat
But that never stopped
Your knife at my throat

You pushed me away
I left and was free
It's now that I'm gone
That you really love me

Strong writing, Alicat...wish it didn't sound familiar.

Very strong words and feelings here. Sometimes loves comes to you when it is too late.   Congratulations on your 1000 post.

Alicat,
what's that song? "Don't know what you got till it's gone"?  But sometimes, it's for the best. . .

Excellent poem. . .

Geesh..this one was sad. Good, full of truth, but too sad for me.

Nothing can deter a poet, for he is actuated by pure love. Who can predict his comings and goings? "Thoreau"
