Full Moon Beguile

A sunset colored with crape myrtle
pressed like silk on blue at first
stayed while I sat down to watch
it drain behind the palm tree’s burst

I thought no beauty could surpass it
and turned to you to speak my view
but you looked passed with eyes celestial
and dreamy with the moonlight’s hew.

I watched it scale a square of building
dissected by a telephone pole
then climb the open angel’s stairway
to rule the sky and light my soul.

I knew you thought of how your Gaga
loved to lay with you out back
when you were just a little fella
and explain its dark and glorious trek.

For when the moon is at the full
I see her climb into your face
almost hear her voice like music
and feel the warmth of her embrace.

The moon at full has all the glory
of the smile that touched the child
and changed forever all the meaning
of the night’s full moon beguile.

It's just amazing how we never seem to run out of "full moon" stories, isn't it?  This one is great, Martie..

Martie -
While at the cottage way south on the Chesapeake - the one predominant tree/shrub - seemed to be Crape Myrtle- and it was glorious ~S~ It was there too I had the luxury of enjoying the splendor of the mmon as I've been denied too long - this was beautiful - you should rhyme more often

Nan--as long as there is a moon, there will be poems written to it.  Thank you for reading mine.

Bill--something about the name Chesapeake sounds so beautiful, maybe it is the moon and crape myrtle...or could it be the ocean.  Thanks for liking this rhymed verse.

jwesley--thank you for letting me know about enchantment...what a lovely thing to say.

Liz--you are wonderful!

catalinamoon--with a name like yours, of course it is.

brian--I'm glad you liked my scene...thank you for telling me.

That's my deer--always so sweet and full of smiles.

Bonnie--I'll keep painting if you keep on saying such nice things.

Butterflies--I should have danced, should't I.

Marge--I know, I know how you feel about it.

Hi Victoria--thanks for your sweet words.

Heather--Moon Magic would be a good title for a poem that you write.

Janet--So glad to see you sweety...I have sure missed you!!

Mark--Next time the moon!

Tom--A wonderful thing to say...thank you...I must look for your poetry too.

Sudhir--Thanks, my friend for the stunning...love that word!
