Should mutagenic properties
of words perform their feat
perhaps a certain quality
from base the eye will meet
Such is this written alchemy
we ply as is our want
to find the esoteric 'mongst
the syllables and fonts
Releasing hidden qualities
of elements we seek
extraction of the purest truth
from thoughts now made to speak
The science of the written word
is ours this craft of old
our hope some lead the pencil leaves
is transformed into gold

This made me think of Michel de Nostradame and philosopher stones and of course how you manage to pull well-written poems out of the hat with every new post.

It must be magic

Thanks for the chance to read and reply.

Craig

Yes, I admit your general rule. That every poet is a fool:
But I myself may serve to show it. That every fool is not a poet.

Doc, Craig said it so well...this is magic, in verse, and I remain enchanted.

You are such a mystery to me. The poet who writes with a pen of gold already, as if I already knew you in another form.
Tis true isn't it?

Unfair, unfair! I wrote replys to four out of five, that somehow were lost in cyber-space .
Suffice it to sy that all your comments are valued more than you know, as I continue on the quest .
Doc

All of your poems are 'gold', Dr. Moose! This one is a gem too!
