In Sleeping's EveAs daylight's shade departs the earth my mind falls, weary, to the night Its welcome womb surrounds my form awash in warm of lantern light I pause for breath of twilight's scent, as shards, astray, from stars are strewn and climb the steps at evening's end escorted bold by golden moon My rooms are bathed in amber's glow as comfort settles in to rest and through the windows moonlight plays, its shimmer, soft, upon my breast While memory moves toward the dream of nights before, on garden's path, in love's embrace, a tender kiss, I hasten, blushed, to draw my bath And wistful thoughts begin their wane as I prepare for sweet reprieve but to my foolish heart's disdain, alone I am in sleeping's eve |

Mark, thank you...your words are so very gracious, my friend. Seymour, sweet person, thank you. I'm pleased that you enjoyed reading this. I loved your poem for your daughter Sunny, thank you very much. As a writer (as I know you know) it is of utmost import to feel that one's work is actually "touching" someone, and your response has made my day. Sudhir, my most sincere thanks to you, O'Sudhir. (are you certain you're not Irish?) Coming from someone so very poetic, your nod of approval sends me soaring. ~ Claire Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |

I knew before I even clicked on that I wouldn't be disappointed, and wow, this is so lovely. The image just paints, why I think my screen is dripping watercolors! Kathleen |

... and were there words of peace to speak, Or whispers wistful waiting by, She surely caught these downy threads And wove them into lullaby ... Claire, your poetry carries with it an infectious air of serenity ... I can only liken it to a warm cup of honeyed chamomile tea next a crackling fireplace ... Wonderful! Claire - alone in a crowd - is how I feel quite often - loved among strangers - unknown among friends - somehow this poem touched these feelings to my core - thank you |
