Just the Wind

Tagging along
my uninvited guest,
wrinkled paper footfalls,
spinner of iron webs
sticking to a lazy mind.

Night takes icy bites,
coils ‘round bare ankles,
trees mock,wind-whipped laughs
from safety of high limbs,
down to the dank stink of rot
sucking all sweetness.

Shroud of time vaporizes,
cold, capturing all -
fruitless trees fall
earthen graves gape
to drag me home
kissing dust.

Convince yourself it's just the wind. I don't think so. Good poem. sort of carried me along with it.

Be well

I like it. I could almost feel the wind chilling my bones. Very good descriptions.
I look forward to reading more

Corinne, I hate walking down abandoned streets at night... wonderfully written, giving me the creeps now.. I think I might stay inside from now on.

Corinne, this reminds me of short stories by Ray Bradbury... very very good...

But stop kissing that dust when you could be kissing...

Corinne~
You write with such ease of talent.
It's easy to be buffeted about by your winds.
Quite the rise to the occasion.
