Once upon a time
He belonged to her
Wedding bells chime
Their love was sure

Seems like ages past
Since that happy day
Looking at her at last
These words his eyes convey

"I am very sorry
Things turned out like this
There's no reason to worry
This I couldn't miss"

"The look in your eye
Is hard for me to bear
I still wonder why
Our happiness was rare"

"Now that our time apart
Is here at last
It weighs on my heart
To look at the past"

She listens to his plea
And lets out a sigh
A part of her longs to be free
To climb the mountain high

Softly she looks at him
The sorrow on her face
Sometimes things seem dim
With color out of place

She struggles for a voice
In which to finally speak
Time to make her choice
Tears from her eyes leak

"You know I've always loved you
From the day we first met
Somehow apart we grew
Maybe our sun has set"

"So hard to be certain
Of such complex things
Could be the final curtain
Such mixed emotions it brings"

"A part of myself wants to leave
Just to have the chance
In me to at last believe
There's a shot at true romance"

"Some say you're the white knight
Riding upon the royal steed
Waiting to take flight
To every damsel in need"

"My heart says they're wrong
About your misguided intent
I hear love's spellbinding song
From your heart it's sent"

"Now I am so confused
As to which way I should go
No longer an I amused
By the seeds you sow"

"I need time for me
In which to really think
Listen to my plea
Don't push me to the brink"

In silence the two quietly sit
Upon the fallen oak tree
The torch of friendship lit
Then passed from he to she

They pledge to earnestly seek
Deep inside their hearts
An opportunity to peek
At the forgotten parts

This concludes our look
At how things maybe are
Their life an open book
Written in the stars

LoneWolf~

My friend~
My friend~

This is sad and lovingly written.
I read your heart and pray it soars ...

'The torch of friendship lit
Then passed from he to she'

To live and love ..
To love and lose ...
To lose and love still ....
That is maturity ....

You have come far.
Love you~

Jenn...first congratulations on your 2000th...then know dear friend that you are loved and that a truer friend I have never had. Some things are better the second time around...sometimes it takes a second look to really see that what you have is all you need. My thoughts are always with you.

Congratulations on 2000, Jenn!  It's great to see!  I agree that this is one of your best works yet (if not the best).  From struggle comes triumph, in so many ways.  Keep them coming and I'll keep reading!  Deal?

My dear LW
You have written with such honesty and warmth about something that could be very cold. Like Marge said what you have written shows your maturity and I send warm thoughts of happiness and love your way and hope they catch up with you.
Be happy always
Warm regards your friend

Sorry i am so late replying to this Jenn, my computer tried to turn itself into a french fry

I cannot express in words how very moved I was when I read this. I know that you have been having such a rough time lately and I wish I could do more to help you through it. Just know that when you need a friend I am always here. You have helped me through so much these past few months and for that you shall never be forgotten my friend. Keep your chin up and keep searching for that brighter tomorrow

Love ya sis,

First of all, I must say that I am amazed by all the sweet replies I have recieved to my 2000th post.  I know it is not exactly a happy one for a milestone poem, but I felt it was a worthy one deserving of such an honor.  It took a couple days to write, but the flow never left.  I am proud of it and happy to share it with all my friends.

There are too many of you to thank individually . . . so please know that I appreciate each and every one of you who took the time to read and respond to this piece.  It means a lot to me to have such wonderful and caring friends.  You are the best!!
