Two, side-by-side, the left one, hollow. Disease 'pon limb-- death sure to follow. The right one, strong, Healthy and tall. Lightning strikes. The mighty, falls. [This message has been edited by serenity (edited 09-10-2000).] |

Serenity, Loved this. It's about two trees, Yes? Be well Kethry "It is the image in the mind that links us to lost treasures; but it is the loss that shapes the image, gathers the flowers weaves the garland."- |

Serenity~ LOL ! Not too many would have a tale like this one to equate to 'without reason' - Here goes - This lady built a roller-skating center business on 5 acres of land. The plans for the driveway leading into the parking lot called for a mighty oak tree to be taken out - Oh, No ! this lady cried ... move the darned driveway over ... go AROUND the tree ! To the tune of $3,700.00 EXTRA the contractors were able to satisfy this enviromental voice. Three months after the opening of the business lightning struck the mighty oak. YEP ! It died a quick death. THEN it cost me $650.00 to have it removed ! ! My family always gets great fun out of that story ! So .... I sure appreciated your little rhyme for a really good reason. Love ya' ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |

I can be sooooooo dense - thanks to you who saw 'trees' (I saw two in a intensive care facility and was baffled) - and Marge - live around here - I'll bet it would cost more than twice that to remove that tree |

Thanks to all---especially Wilfred, who is not so dense...I tried to make this deliberately ambiguous---as this is yet another true serenity story, as lightning took down a perfectly beautiful 75-yr. old cypress behind my house yesterday...and I as I looked at it, and the diseased tree still standing untouched, it DID remind me that there are no guarantees---so, good for you, Wilfred, you caught exactly what I was intending....and Mom, I'll e ya later...as there is more to the story...thanks and *wink* |

Serenity, I'm dense by nature, I thought "this has to be more than trees" but to mind came my pasture, two cottonwoods...one still with green leaf, the other scarred and winterwhite in death, still standing...side by side... and Marge, did you plant a new tree? Well done, both of you. I so enjoy the sharing that comes from good poetry... |

This little poem is so true, we could all apply it to some aspects of our lives. What we think to be the certain, often doesn't happen and the impossible falls on our laps. Very well stated, this little rhyme. I really like it lIz |

serenity, Great writing here my friend. You have got me thinking . . . Lone Wolf Poetry should surprise by fine excess...it should strike the reader as a wording of his own highest thoughts and appear almost a remembrance. -J.Keats |

Talking about dense and trees takes me to the woods... If you had not explained, this is what I would have thought... --------- Two, side-by-side, the left one, hollow. A pair of eyes, blinded on one - the left, not necessarily blind, but probably deficiency to see due to numerous reasons... marking loneliness Disease 'pon limb-- death sure to follow. signifies life... being lonely is a disease (?) The right one, strong, Healthy and tall. again the healthy eye(read 'I')... being brave batting eyelids (being tall...) against the grave nature of loneliness... Lightning strikes. The mighty, falls Nature intervenes... taking about monsoon, the rains, the falls (mighty waterfalls) ... see way, off line... no wonder all the ladies have this sentence to say... "You bore me to death, but love the way you think..." ---------- pun and fun aside... a great poem... 8 lines of amazing poetry... regards O Serene One, Sudhir |
