The Words I've Said by Michael Auguste I often wonder as I write Just how much of me I should share How much my heart let others see It seems it's almost like a dare There's just so much I want to give See hearts that fill to overflow Share smiles and peace that in me live To watch how wonderful you grow My poetry honest without doubt So word by word you'll come to see And soon know what I'm all about That lies can never live in me I'm humbled by your words of praise And even had tears sting my eyes For simple poems that I did write Such tenderness in your replies I guess my purpose is now clear Why I write poetry in the night To offer hope, share who I am And with this hope, improve your sight Through pain my eyes now view this world Now rationed footsteps I must take No shores to walk or forest hikes A different journey now to make But even so, I feel it's fair Life does not have a warranty When knocked down you get right back up There's still more beauty yet to see Under star's illumination So many thoughts course through my head I go outside, drink in the night And ponder on the words I've said Proust- "Love is space and time measured by the heart" |
