Chained in Sorrow

Sweet sorrow, will you not depart,
Let loose, this grip upon my heart?

I mourn the day you entered me,
For lost am I, to misery;
A darkness grew from your embrace,
My essence shattered, laid to waste.

You've taken hold, where once was light,
And drowned my soul in hapless plight;
So deeply buried 'neath my skin,
You prowl the depths from low within.

To surface then, you do arise,
To seep from these unwanting eyes;
Too weak to try, too tired to fight,
And so these tears, I'll shed tonight.

I pray that peace and calm prevail,
Though wish I might, to no avail;
'Tis not a refuge to be found,
Release elusive ... torture-bound.

Kit*
This gave a punch right to the heart...your
pain and ache created a heart touching poem,
it flowed easily and read smoothly.  Great
writing~

It seemed as I read that there was a bit of a release, I find, as most do, that poetry gives that. Enjoyed.

Very well written Kit ... I can't help but feel this one as I'm reading it.

You've done well with this one Kit.
It flowed perfectly.
Now may those chains be broken and a captured soul be set free!

hi KIT,

There's a verse in here that jumped out 2 me...
'So deeply buried beneath my skin you prowl the depths from low within'
I'm touched by your poem...

I just knew that if I wailed long enough and loudly enough, someone would find a way to express my feelings. *G*

What's that? You didn't know you were writing it for me? LOL. This is great, Kit... wonderful reading even if it did hit home. *S*

Kit,
Those chains that bind and take hold will loosen the grip when we let go and give it to the one above who touches with his love.
Powerful writing, your words really hit home to some pain from my past.

Kit, excellent writing, my friend. Sorrow is, indeed, all you have so incredibly described here, and to be "chained" is such apt terminology. This piece, though "sorrow"ful is still at once "beauty"ful.

Hugs from this cowboy's arms out wide
As he rests his hat on the table of grace
A walk he would take with friend at his side
Trying only to put a smile upon your face

Heartfelt pain in this one my challenge accepted friend......The hugs are real so take them as you need them.
