I wanted to be there but the mailman left a package at my door it was a birthday present from my sister I would have been there but the phone rang just as I was leaving once, I told you that I loved you but I was really too young to know what love is I know I said we would always be together but it was the college I applied for on the phone and they wanted to schedule an interview I meant it when I said that you mean so much to me but I forgot how much I meant to myself I wanted to be there but next week I’ll be nineteen. |

Debbie - You didn't change your plans. You simply used your woman's prerogative to change your mind. A worthy explanation. |

Well, I didn't change my mind, but I guess the character in my poem did! (Wish I was going to be nineteen on my next birthday!) |
