A toddler's romp such grand cavort To challenge Mom such wondrous sport One blink of eye, her day is spent Yet nimble tyke's without relent "Slow down my child - You're out of sight' She calls her Mom with hopes to vent Their evening jog's time for lament But all's soon quelled for her consort As Nana sounds her own retort "Slow down my child - Run with less might" Then Nana with her Mom as planned In leisure stroll along the strand Meandering by ocean side Great-grandma can't maintain the stride "Slow down my child - You've too much spright." In geriatrics home reside Backs bent with age two side by side Great-grandma walks with cane in hand While Great-great-grandma steps with stand "Slow down my child - We have no plight." A lively child shall set the pace While Mommy vies to win the race And Nana moves a little slow Great-grandma even much more so But Great-great grandma's gone more laps She wins the Gene-racing Gap "Slow down my children - Get it right"  [This message has been edited by Nan (edited 09-03-2000).] |

Nan.... Now that is a great piece of writing!!!! You covered all the generations and gave credit to a spunky great-great grandma!! Bravo!~! (I love the graphics!!) Today is a gift.... That is why they call it 'the Present'! |

Thanks, my friends... Doreen - I dunno about the poem, but I sure did think the theme was GRAND...  Sunny - Thanks - Great-great-grandma is now 97 years young - She forgets a lot - but she's up and doing laps with her walker - After a broken hip - She deserves to win... Marge - LOL - Thankee - There are varying levels of grand here - You must fall in there somewhere... |

Nan, this one is very touching. I surely hope I live long enough to be waving that cane around at all the younguns running laps around me.  Seriously, I really enjoyed the flow and rhythm of this one, not to mention the message in an age when so many consider out-of-sight-out-of-mind when it comes to their elders. |
