This Land

With wide open spaces
and clear blue skies,
you can't help but love
this land of dust and flies.
The colour of a desert sunrise
a joy to behold,
reveal to all who see it
life's secrets never told.
The smell of the ocean
as it laps against the sand
helps us see more clearly
the mortality of man.
There's more to this country
than mere visual appeal.
The essence of its beauty
is in what you feel.

Dee,
this is lovely and I felt the essence of the land through your poem.

Brian I'd buy you a ticket if you were prepared to travel in a coffin in the baggage compartment, after all I have to smuggle in my heroin somehow. *laughs*. Not serious I hope you realise.  Nope you'll just have to practise flapping your wings.

still a great poem Dee.

Brian, the best I can do is offer a place to stay when you get here. How's your swimming? Thanks for reading my latest offering.

I think that line says everything that needs to be said. Great work!

Hi Dee,

I love every word of this one.    I do someday in the not too distant future plan to visit there.  I've always loved Australia.  Any hotels where you live?

EagleOne, this is how I feel about our beautiful country.

Michael, I knew you'd like this one.

Thank you both for stopping by.
