In darkness, he hides...waiting, waiting for his next victim to appear. He snatches them from the realm of innocence and whisks them away to a world of fear. Struggle though they may, it is futile. The chance of escape is slim...if any. For his grip is tighter than that of a miser who is holding his very last penny. Their cries fall on the ears of the deaf. His intentions dishonorable, this you should know. He tightens his hold until you gasp for breath and as you enter oblivion he suddenly lets go. He is no respecter of person... anyone may be a victim if his path they cross. He enters their mind a little at a time and their peaceful sleep is forever lost. Consider this fair warning to all... for it is in darkness that he awaits. He patiently sits 'til you close your eyes then mischievously alters your fate. He steals the dreams you thought you'd dream; transports you to a place you know not where. He's the source...the one behind the curtain. He is the maker of your every nightmare. |

(in a deep dark voice) AND THAT IS ME??? HA HA HA ... fear of the dark, when darkness haunts as a shadowed silhoutte, and out comes a hand touching your shoulder, nails clawing the spine, sending shivers... before I get on the dark road... let me say that this was an excellent poem ... regards, sudhir |

my first thoughts were Freddy Kruger when I read this...you know, Nightmare on Elm Street...but only after I got to the end. All the way up to that, I was wondering what it was you were writing about...I thought maybe it was an emotion or one of the seven deadly sins. But I really liked this, dark and eerie like AVANTI said. Whew! I want to read it again and again!!! The morbid side of me showing through. ![]() Don't care what people say Just follow your own way Don't give up and use the chance To return to innocence. -Enigma |
