She strives to weave the fabric of romance

"Talk about life,
Yes let's talk about it."

"Ah, but don't you see
There is so much struggle
In this four letter word
Spelled L I F E
Don't you see?
Oh no, my dear
Let's talk about love instead
Let's talk about you and me
And what in a year we will be
Let's talk about our love, my dear".

"But, my dear
Is our love not a part
of our life too?
Are we not puppets
in this play of love?
Don't you think Shakespeare's
sitting up there holding
the ends of these threads,
clipped to our wings,
making us act this very moment
as we sit here and speak?
Don't you, my love?"

"All right then, my love
Let me tell you about love then
And life in the same breath too.
See there under the tender green leaf
Of the white mulberry tree
Can you see the worm underneath?"

"Ah! The bald white silkworm.
Is that what you want me to see?
Is there something I don't know?
Is she a flame of your former life?
Oh! I am all in fear, my love,
Please hold me closer to your heart".

"Be still, my love, O honey of my life
Don't you fear my dear!
This has nothing to do with my love
Or our lives, but with the story
Of the caterpillar turning
Into a beautiful winged butterfly.
This is about the struggle
of the kind hearted butterfly,
who, even in her infancy,
makes threads for us humans to
weave the fabric of romance
a fabric called silk."

Silk, the lustre of the East,
Silk, the gift from heritage,
Silk, the saree of the bride,
Silk, the skin of my beloved,
Silk, the sheet on the river,
Silk, the smoothness defined.

It is this that the silk worm works
at in it's formative years spinning
a dark cocoon around itself without
a care or thought, for her own self
in the world , all the time feeding
on tit-bits of the mulberry leaves.

"This is where our love
and our lives will blend,
Beneath the silken canopy
of the boundless sky.
My love, tell me did you
Like the story of the
caterpillar, the silkworm,
who strives, throughout her
short life, just for us humans to
weave the fabric of romance, and
then later she comes back as a
lovely butterfly to see our joy."

did you? ... Sir Sven, how did I do?

Oh Karilea, your words have gladdened me much... but I do hope Sven likes it...

masterpiece or not, is just a matter of opinion, to me I just hope it is good enough...

Thanks for everything,

Many regards,

Ah, then this poem did come out well... hit me for doubting myself... I just read my poem again and felt swell, asking myself, did I do that... WOW

and then I read each of your responses taking all the time in the world... really got to hand it to you for making my day...

Karilea, let me thank you once more...

Kethry, Thank you too!

Marge, what can I say, I love your responses and poems... and the smiles that I get

Sven, so glad that I could come up with something... colours, I wanted to use them to distinguish the speakers first... and then added them to the thoughts in the "free-verse block format" to make them stand out too... even If I say myself, I think not too bad... and when I read your response I feel I have been successful in doing my best... Thank you for the challenge...

regards to all,
sudhir
