Lake Tahoe Up here where the air is thin Just a hint of fall in August Past towns so aptly named Dodge the gambling crowds, Beer swilling outdoorsmen To sliver a path through vanilla pines Permit your senses to slowly receive For the colors will defy description, The artist cannot quite call it cerulean, The poet will not cleverly compare it But perhaps the child understands When he says it’s an upside down sky. A million fire opals eye to eye, Colors you feel when you die Words just slip and slide on by Fading like an upside down sky. © 200 Corinne Bailey |

Thank you Mark, spend the 30 minutes it takes to drive from north to south around the lake trying to come up with something to describe it, the only line I retained was "a million fire opals eye to eye." Allacram, thank you, yes, it is one of a kind, you should see it! Thank you, Bill! Park, Park, Park, how've you been my friend? Yes, the last part is kind of a song! Thank you! Corinne |

Corinne~ Your phrases brought the scene to life. It is beautiful indeed. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |

Corinne... This is the purest of the pure magic of imagery here... with great vividity, you have described in the most minimally required words... something I would crave to emulate myself.... WONDERFUL "gambling crowds", "an upside down sky", "million fire opals eye to eye" amongst the most striking... I could die to write such wonderful lines... regards to a marvelous poet... sudhir |

you've captured it perfectly, Core. I can't wait to see the lake again...maybe even take a wrong turn somewhere. Rick |
