This poem was written as a challenge to use the phrase "beating pots and pans"(from a non-Passions friend). I posted last year on Bad Poetry Day(August 18). This year I missed it by one day - so here it is! I never really liked this one.... Throwing glasses, spilling wine a big dish shattering over there beating pots and pans on the counter then slamming down a broken chair. The child lay huddled ‘neath the table by the door hoping to escape the rampage as glass shattered on the floor. His mommy was quite angry she told him she’d had enough and that was why she raged on and broke all their kitchen stuff. When she stopped and went to her room He waited til she was asleep then cautiously he crept to bed just another memory to keep. |

Hi Poet deVine... Even if you never liked this one, it was still powerfully written with a powerful message that all need to hear. I just posted one like this in DP called Mother Dearest with a similar message. These things need to be brought into the light, and you did a wonderful job on this! Today is a gift.... That is why they call it 'the Present'! |

Daaaaaaaayyyyyuuuuummmnnnnnnn....... Very tragic, very poignant, and unfortuned, all too common. I think you met this friend's challenge in a very unexpected way. And I simply love the skill you use in poetic creation. |

You may not like this piece Sharon but it has brought back "crashing" memories for me. I remember this happening in my home when I was little. Brought a tear to my eye. I have never really let it bother me, I've never really thought about it, until now. I don't think I faced it. Even now, I hold no hate or anger towards her. I love both of my parents dearly! And believe it or not, it make me love her all the more for having courage to quit drinking and change her ways. I just hope one day she can forgive her self! It has also tought me to be very patient with my son NO MATTER what kind of day I or he has had! I don't even really know what I'm trying to say....but this piece touched my heart! Thanks for the reminder of how innocent and precious children really are! ~PanDol |

~PDV,...this IS tragic and an occurence that happens all too often. I think you took that phrase there and used your magic to send out a message, and I heard it loud and clear. Awesome work. *Peace. |

Thank you all. You are too kind. Sometimes it's easier to step back from a topic to write about..the focus on the 'things' the mother was doing instead of the inner damage to the child makes this really harsh I think..at least that's what I thought when I wrote it. |

deVine one, This really is BAD poetry, as long as you're using BAD the way it was used in the 60's..like the Beatles were bad, man!!! You ARE bad...and that's because you are so GOOD!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Sharon this is tragically sad. Other than the tears it wants to bring, I don't think it's a bad poem at all. |

Ms Devine - yanno, banging those pots and pans around can scare the hell out of even a grown man. This is a dark poem. Just another piece of evidence about your versatility. |
