If I were but a captain, and you my Lorelei, I'd sail my ship upon the rocks, for in your arms to die, In the rolling, tossing tempest, you'd be the eye of calm, I'd lay my head head upon your breast, to feel its soothing balm. As trade winds blow, to fill my sails, I'd feel as if been kissed, By beauteous goddess of the sea, she'd come from evening's mist, If I were but a captain, I'd sail the ocean blue, Seeking out my goddess fair, to sail away with you. I take you gently in my arms, and feel your warm embrace, As light of heaven's stars above, shines down upon your face, I see the glow of all my dreams, within your beauty there, And touch upon moon's silver beams, as stroke your silken hair. I hear sweet music of the muse, we sail throughout the night, Free as the summer winds that blow, our hearts as one unite, You are my goddess, Aphrodite, you touch within my soul, And leave therein a satin bloom, a rose that makes me whole. I feel the splendor of the night, as hear your siren's song, Breathing in your fragrant scent, I capture all I long, For time stands still, my Venus fair, while I am in your arms, The moon itself, in sky above, cedes to your beauteous charms. My eyes drink of your loveliness, soft grace of supple limb, Sweet creature of the welkin blue, angelic seraphim, I kiss the smoothness of your skin, as gaze into your eyes, With soft caress, on passion's sip, I sail across night's skies. The morning star, you are the night, we sail 'cross heaven's floor, Upon the clouds on winds of time, my darling Terpsichore, I sing to you love's madrigal, I'll love you evermore, I whisper softly to the wind, I love you evermore. Last night I sailed to Zanzibar, across the seven seas, Danced a dance with Terpsichore, upon soft evening's breeze, I plucked a flower from the skies, a rose named Southern Cross, And sang to her love's madrigal, upon her heart emboss. The signature of all I am, of all I'll ever be, For whilst I hold her in my arms, 'tis only Rose I see, I long to feel her soft caress, to of her passion's sip, 'Til once again sail seven seas, upon night's sailing ship. A'Sail, indeed. Beauty and longing in your words, my friend. ~ Claire Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |

My goodness, there is more romance packed in that one poem than in 20 of mine. I am not worthy to share this forum with you.. That was the most romantic poem I have ever read, so glad I found it! Thanks. catalinamoon Words are things, and a small drop of ink, falling, like dew, upon a thought produces that which makes thousands, perhaps millions think. Lord Byron |
