Only Words On A Screen They're only words on a screen Just words no more, no less So how can mere words Cause my heart to press So hard against my breast My face to flush My breath to catch, to pause Cause my blood to rush Only words, no more They're only letters on a screen Just letters no less, no more So how can mere letters Stop my heart feeling sore Give me such a rush Cause my pulse to break My knees to weaken, to tremble Make my body ache Only letters no more |

Ohhh Marsha...you have penned a beauty with this one and you are among a thousand poets who know all too well the power of a single word. They don't need to be in a prose or verse, as each word we have is an arsenal of love or pain. Superb creation. |

good question... if you find out the answer, let me know... seriously... hehe nicely done. just remember, words are powerful... in the beginning there was the word and the word was with god... and when god spoke all of this into being, i'm sure he knew in advance that you and i and thousands of others would be sitting by a computer screen asking these same questions... peace... keep writing... don't ever stop... |

Mark you are to to kind, I think my poetry is growing but it's only because I have such kind and wonderful examples to learn from. Thank you James, you know how I feel about your writing, I think it transcends mere 'words' and almost becomes spirit. So Thank you loads. Doreen, thank you, your poetry is truly wonderful, and touches me deeply. Thank you for reading mine. |

Words How can it be, how can one say Their love is strong, their love stands tall When actions in their every move Disprove the meaning of it all. How can it be, how can one say Bear with me please, it's you I love When every word it seems to scream Steals air from from breath, and up above. How can it be, how can one say You stop the beating of my heart When every word you send my way Pushes further, 'til we part. How can it be, how can one say Forgive me, please, it wasn't meant The way you thought, the way you read In all the words and thoughts I sent. How can it be, how can one say It doesn't matter, anyhow As long as words have been around Their meanings change, yes even now. Marsha we all write about words....yours were wonderful and I wanted to share one of mine with you ~~soft hugs M |

MMoonchild, your words are so beautiful, as is your work always. One of my shining examples, that I learn from, so thank you so much. Butterflies dc, your work never fails to touch that part of me that can either soar, or plummet, my soul. So thank you for your 'words'. Ballader, praise indeed from a master to one of the very inexperienced appretices. Each and everyday I learn from being part of this group, and each and every day I'm thankful for the opportunity. |

Everything starts with a word...and as long as those words are an honest reflection of the person speaking them the it matters not whether they fall on ear or eye. |

Paula thank you for your kind words, you are quite right of course that how the words come is not important, it is how the words are recieved. It still amazes me that words or even silence can stir so much emotion. [This message has been edited by Marsha (edited 08-16-2000).] |

..hmm..its amazing isnt it...!! written words can say much much more than a voice sometimes..often putting a voice with the words causes them to jumble.. well written marsha..i think we can all relate to this one dg "Half of what i say is meaningless; but i say it so that the other half may reach you." -Kahlil Gibran |

In so many ways the words touch our hearts, this was a very good poem, just one word spoken can either cause us to love or hate. The tongue after all is a two-edged sword. Just one word spoken can touch millions of people. Thanks again. |

I like this. Words are very powerful. Whether spoken or written. If the written words you read come from the heart then let me read in silence. |

Sticks & Stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. This cliche is ohhh so wrong. Writen or spoken, words can be ohh so beautiful or ever so hurtful. But as you say, "They're only words." Excellent and very pensive poem. Garfield |

Only just words? It is amazing that only just your words can display such emotion that your work speaks of in this writing. So you have to wonder..are they just words? I think they are much ...much more. This is food for thought and beautiful to admire. Thank you |
