Million Dollar Man

A quick show of hands
will surely clear the air
and personally I don't really care
just how many women here would dare
to marry a real live millionaire.

A very particular millionaire appeared on a T.V. show
to offer his riches and a life to share.
His task was fairly simple they say.
He would pick one of fifty woman placed before him on display
and send the rest on their merry way.
A million dollars of hype
would be spent that day
in a silly romantic cash and deliver way.

Even though I understand man needs woman
and woman needs a man
I simply can not understand
a million dollar man
buying beauty just because he can.
And on that very day
he found the one to take his heart away.
Yet even as he kissed her square on her lips
he couldn't quite grab her fingertips.
For in that same moment she pulled away
his kiss had sealed his fate that day.
It seems she didn't quite understand
why out of fifty there he would grab her hand.
Why me, why me, Mr Millionaire Man?

Check him out cause before you he stands
a million dollar man with no particular shining attributes.
Some slicked back hair
and shiny shoes.
It could be possible he really cares
look at him girls isn't he debonair?
Hey, hey, hey, he's a millionaire.

Now I know some girls would call him handsome
and some would give in to his romancin.
These girls should read todays headlines.
Something about threatening to kill his ex.
so look out girls you could be next.
It seems he also flattened her tires in a rage
cause she told him I'm outa here as fast as I can
see you later Mr. Millionaire Man.
Ladies, I don't believe you need that abuse
from this million dollar man now on the loose
and flashing money to pick and choose.

Attention all woman who would dare
don't miss your chance to appear on this
show and win a millionaire.
Hey, ain't everybody can marry a millionaire
and in all fairness I'm sure their are some millionaires out there who really care.
Oh yes, oh yes, the dream, the scheme, has become
such a mess
and still...very soon I'm sure I'll be submitting my request
to be one of the fifty men trying to marry a millionairess.

You see, there's this saying I have...I'd rather be poor and happy, than rich and miserable!

Perfect tribute to such a horrible aspect of our society.  Money, who needs it that way?  Thanks for the smile this morning.  Loved this poem, maybe you should send it to FOX?

When you marry for the size of a man's wallet and don't care about the size of his heart, you deserve what you get... I guess I'm a cynic... but I don't see that whole fiasco as very far above a guy cruising the street corners and taking his pick.

I think it takes a special kind of stupid to stand up and marry someone you never met and know nothing about. I guess the lesson "Don't talk to strangers" didn't take. And it also says alot about the millionaire as well. All that money and no way to buy heart. That's sad. I hope she flees to the highest mountain before he threatens her life too.

The reality of this world is that when money talks, everybody listens. There's very little that cannot be bought (and delivered) if you can pay the price.  Obviously, 50 women were willing to play the millionaires game and I suspect many more would also. Love, well maybe it will come and maybe it won't. There's a lot of things lacking that having money will make up for, but very few things that are improved by poverty.
Thinking out loud..........
Nice poem!

WhtDove I agree with you a million dollars worth (laugh)
sonjes thank you for your reply and I was amazed that fifty women would participate
and so many would watch.  Or should I say discusted.
Suthern I can see that you know the truth.
WildChild I feel like they were rather stupid also but I am sure most of these women and he also can easily justify there actions in their own minds.  That is why people act the way they do, they are a victim of their own minds, a victim of their own circumstances.
So true Danny.  That is why the ratings were so high for shows like this.   Money, sex, and power, lure us and tempt us all.   James
