Understanding

Why did you put me in this hollow pit?
Emotions falling down on me.
Unwanted is the pain.
Am I not made of blood and bone?
Do I deserve such punishment?

Instead of filling my heart with love,
You've stricken it with sickness.
Corrupting it of its goodness.
Where once was passion, joy and life is
Now cursed with anger, disappointment and sorrow.

Cutting and ripping my mind are
your thoughtless selfish words.
You spew them out to eat my soul,
Never once considering the empty shell they
Would leave behind.

I weep....

To leave you alone in this house,
Where your words echo off the walls,
Is not an act of hate but one of love.
Spend time in this vacant world
You expect us to live in.

Look at me, look at our children,
We are learning to compensate for
The time you selfishly hoard from us.
Bitterness is not love, love is not ignorant
And ignorant we are not.

Love conquers all, I firmly believe.
To trust a love that powerful,
Takes faith, courage and patience.
I know your heart, as you do mine,
But time is of the essence.

Shelley,

I am surprised that others have not responded to your work before this. This poem is certainly intense in its emotions. Sadly, I suspect the person who needs to read this the most will never see it here. Thanx for posting and good luck.

My emotions kinda took over a little bit.

Love does conquer all, but not always in the way we want it to.

So glad for the happy ending, however, this one really stung! LOL You sure have a way with saying what you feel! Yowza! You go girl! I applaude your ability!

Sounds like emotions are running pretty high with this writing. Hope your love does conquer the situation that your in. Life does have it's challenges, it seems.
