The World of Dream I walked out of the world of real Into the world of dream And it was much more wonderful Than anything I'd seen I felt the warmth of love at last The comfort of a kiss And wondered why I never dreamed Of all these things I'd missed Why had I lived my life in real All my days on earth When fantasy could make me see My value and self worth For here I'm given words of praise I'm loved for who I am There's no abuse or sorrow here Just pure love of a man But then in pondering the real The loneliness of past I realized that I'd walked into The world of real at last Submissive acts and masking truth The pain I left behind Were products of defensive self Deceptions of the mind I never knew true love before The passion that I'd feel I didn't know that happiness Was in the world of real I realize now my life began The day he came to me I've walked out of the world of dream And found reality Elizabeth Santos [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (edited 02-20-2000).] |

Oh Liz, If you've found this world that makes you happy, hold on to it tight. We make so much of our own sorrow, surely we can make our own joy. Wonderful poem! |

Elizabeth, We never really leave our dream. For that would be too extreme. We always take a part of it, As a weather vane or exit. An excellent poem. Love Sy |

What a difference love can make... even to those things that aren't supposed to be generated externally... like self-worth! This is beautiful!!! Well done! |

Thank you all for your interesting comments. I think sometimes if you are subject to criticism too often, you start believing it, and then you try to be someone that you aren't just to please someone else. That's what I meant by living in a dream. But it could mean dirrerent things to different people. Thanks |

Oh Liz! This poem really hit home... No one should have to mask true feelings or be something they're not to make others happy. We should all be happy with true selves and accept other's true selves too. I can't tell you how wonderfully this poem has flowed through my soul. I have to say, Passions has helped me be me. I mean, there is no need to mask feeling here for all emotion is accepted with open arms. What a gift. Love and hugs, Lizzie ![]() "Poetry is the true expression of my soul, it is my ultimate means of communication. It is my rainbow of delight." |
