Medusa Within the realm of our powers, we resolve to be in concert, I’ll love you like no other, turning faces towards the sun. Seas that have swept us clean, from that face of deepest sorrow, no dream goddess of Gorgon’s this road could she have traveled. Haven’t we outgrown our pasts, These suits no longer fitting, or will you gaze upon her face, and I upon your statue? Not until her blood was let, did Pegasus learn to fly let’s soar upon our own wings no reason to ever alight. © 2000 Corinne Bailey |

Poor Medusa, talk about bad hair days! But I can just imagine all those darting tongues?...And if she were a lesbian, all the girls would flock to her gorgeous head of hair....Nicely done Ms. Bailey |

Touché, yes gotta avoid them black haired snakey women. I really loved this one Corinne.... And goddess Saga, in verse set forth On Sleipnir's back to winters north on Gungnirs tip, Huginn's corpse a gift of homage, for Mimir's Vow Heart in heart to face Ragnarok. Great poem, Corinne. I love the line about the suits not fitting anymore. So much beneath the surface on this one. Excellent work. michael |

Thank you, Parker, and I loved that site, btw. K, Parker, I'll admit to looking some (ok, ALL) of these names up! Saga, goddess of poetry (VBS), Sleipnir - the swift horse ridden by Odin. Huginn - a raven of thought which sat upon Odin's shoulder and brought him news everyday of what was occuring in the world. Gungnir - Odin's spear, obtained from the Dwarves by Loki for Odin. Mimir - the god of wisdom and knowledge. He dwelt by the ash-tree Yggdrasil. Ragnarok - the ultimate battle between good and evil from which a new order will come. Translation?: the goddess of poetry riding a swift horse to the cold north, but the man she seeks, a man of thought has fallen upon a sword. In a gift of honor, his heart she delivers to one true God as promised? LOL Made me work for this one, and I'm not sure I totally got it. Thanks for this, I loved it! And thank you, Michael, for the kind words! Corinne [This message has been edited by Corinne (edited 02-17-2000).] |

Corinne, I had to edit my poem after evaluating you interpretation, I see the message was just off a bit. Tell me if this comes across a little different, and "on Gungnirs tip, Huginn's corpse" is a more fickle reference. Parker [This message has been edited by Haleyja (edited 02-17-2000).] |
