Growing Up

Winter's chill is closing in
as I sit alone on the cold seats
watching young boys
in their journey to become
the men they will soon be.

I let my mind drift back
to a time not long ago
when I too was on this very stage
playing games
that I thought meant so much.

Life was so simple then
and good, and fun,
and as I remember myself
as I was back then
I find myself wishing
that I could be
that little boy again.

Ah, don't we all, Christopher! They were such golden times. I wish I had realized their importance while was living them instead of rushing through them to get older. Excellent poem.

Thanks Balladeer.  Sometimes its just too easy to race through life without ever really stopping to live, even just for a few moments.  I love to reflect back upon my life every now and then to help myself to fully understand where I am going.

Thanks for the kind words.

Chris.

Perhaps the answer is to bring a bit of that "little boy" along with you as you grow up... Nice poem, Chris...

What a great poem, Chris.  We always keep the child in us.  Sometimes it just gets hidden along the way.

Reflection can bring so many things to light and life seems to be an endless circle of wishes.  Ah, Youth. You have brought a smile to my lips.
