I used to call you "friend"
but I don't know you anymore
You've shut me out
closed your heart's door

God, how I miss you
your special name for me
It'd make me so happy
hearing you call out~"Sue-Bee!"

We used to share and laugh
and joke and such
~now we never talk~
it hurts me so much

Maybe you've changed
or feel we've grown apart
Can't you see
you're still here in my heart?

It doesn't matter
~I try to pretend~
But I just want
to call you "friend"

Suthern~ thanks. It's for my "best friend" (not counting my hubby). We had been friends since I was 16 and he was 20. Now that he is married, I seemed to have fallen off the planet. It really hurts me. I e-mailed this to them this morning. I wonder if I'll hear anything back?-SEA

Sea, you write of one of love's difficult circumstances.  Many friendships turn into love, but so unlikely is friendship comfortable after love becomes the past.
Hope it works out for you.
Well written poem!
Danny

SEA~
Friendships are tended
and often mended
by cultivating
and not waiting
until the friendship
becomes a 'mend'-ship.

Just remember that the friendship
between you need not change...
perhaps it can be re-arranged.
Loving friendships are difficult enough
to find ... much less to maintain.

Try to keep in touch with your friend.
Love ya' ~Marge~

Sorry to hear that SEA. You've described the hurt you feel very well in your poem! Not easy to lose a friend. Maybe a jealous wife?

Dearest, SEA

Before I even read Whtdoves reply I had
the same thought, I had the very same thing happen to me and it took along time to get over it but I had to realize that It was not me that did anything. I still love my friend dearly but things have changed. Posting this poem and a wonderful one at that is a very strong thing to do I hope only the best for you.

Corinne~ thanks

WhtDove~ I have no idea if she is jealous. She has no reason to be. There is nothing for her to be jealous over. He married her not me. I married Jon not Todd. I think she just doesn't like me. Heck I don't know. That is the worst-I have no idea. I'm glad you liked this, and thanks.

Cerenity~thank you. This is really hard. I want to scream. I checked the e-mail this morning-nothin. If I could just hear it from him, then I could deal with it. I feel like a part of me is slipping away and I don't know how to stop it. -SEA

Sea, really loved this poem. I remember friends that were so close as teens, and now they seem so different. Like I never even knew them at all, like waking up from a dream. I don't even like to think about it sometimes cause it makes no sense. I more so expect that routine with relationships but not friends.

Even though what you feel is a loving friendship, his wife may see it differently--Jealousy is a hard thing to contend with.

Lovely and sad poem.

SEA-I really feel the emotions in this one. I miss my "girl" friends. But things change and its hard to keep that friendship you had when you were single and now both are married. I haven't thought about it in awhile, but your poem brought it out.

Haleyja~ we stayed so close for 10 years, only the last 3 have been wierd. I hope I'm making more out of this than there really is.

Martie~ I hope she isn't. I have so much respect for the woman who finally tamed that boy's heart!   If she is, there is nothing I can do to change that.My husband feels a little jealous, but he knows I love him more than the air I breathe and that Todd and I have  been friends for 13 years. That's it.

Tracie~ thank you for the hugs.   I think I might call this weekend. Maybe I'll get to talk to him and straighten these feelings out,or even find out why Jeannie is so stubborn!   -SEA

JML~ I know, when I married my first husband, Todd said he'd never let anything stop us from being friends. Then, he got with her and I fell off the planet. I understand, I just miss his friendship.
