This is an oldie...But, someone here mentioned sand and this came to mind...

Rocks and River

It happens when we’re sleeping
Focused thoughts come into view
Gentle spirits call a meeting
A place where we pass through

Where mighty rushing rivers flow
Green landscapes burgeoning
And indigo dog violets grow
Patience and love harvesting

You, the stream flowing
I, the shape of stability
Growing, never plateauing
Wearing me smooth, subtly

At times nature tears us apart
She regards us with suspicion
Leaving us with wounded hearts
To renew love sans inhibition

Thoughts pouring onto each other
Repeating rhythms brimming over
Holding forth on terra firma
Fluid and solid, rocks and river

Corinne, I guess I haven't read all of yours yet. More the mystery.
I love the meaning behind this line...
Patience and love harvesting.
Where true care should always be taken.

Thank you, Denise, for you always kind words!

Parker, the mystery is deep as the oceans,
the sand falls through your fingers. How can you count sand?  It only clings to you when it it's wet or very fine...

Yes, but I would patiently separate each grain with my finger tips, very gently, and move them around till the counting was complete. If the warm liquid ocean should wash them into chaos, I would start counting again and again till I could not count anymore.
