The last of embers lose their glow and fall as blackened stone Outside the night greets fallen snow Inside I'm all alone The wind, it scorns, the stubborn walls that stand within its way And grins as it so softly calls my mind on out to play The shadows dance along the room basking in the moonlight The emptiness starts to consume the ever aging night Left I to sit, thinking aloud thoughts falling on deaf ears working to build this silence shroud trying to hold the tears Again the wind begins to send its invites in each clout I sigh and say you win old friend For I am coming out. This has such a wonderful warm flow. I really like "Outside the night greets fallen snow...inside I'm alone." Marvelous writing. James |
