I can taste the venom in your words A sound I pretend I never heard As the morning sun breaks the day We stand together at the beginning But we play a game only one is winning Then at the end, you lose your way The arrival of a strange emotion, You throw a heart into the ocean, And laugh though you know not why The reason is changing seasons into winter’s cold Here on the precipice I can no longer hold But drop, as a tear forms in your eye The most frightening thing of all Is that I was starting to fall When you looked my way Blindness clears and leaves recognition Lovers try to ignore their condition As the setting sun ends the day |

I enjoyed this piece. Awareness, whether arriving early or late, is often a bitter pill to swallow, and you've expressed that very well here. Claire |
