A Rose for my Froggy by Miss Abagail Mannering 4/12/2000 Petals soft as velveteen, color, rich- red as wine. Stem and leaves and emerald green- thorns that prick one's pride. Sweet tear drops fall on budding crowns, then trickle slowly to SPLAT on the ground. Love is the meaning of a beautiful rose... which I try to express in the lines I compose.... For, I've found my Prince after all the POND SCUM... it is you, my Froggy... it is you that I love. Dedicated to my beau for our 7th month. anniversary comin' up on the 18th. part of this poem is a snippet from an old poem written for an old love. I always loved one particular snippet from that old poem..and have been tryin' to come up with new verses for it for 3 years...I finally did it! "Ya have to kiss a lot of frogs before you meet your prince... just watch out for all the pond scum!!!" |

Miss Abagail - this is a very nice poem, and you have a cute pout. Thanks for sharing both! Troy< !signature--> Beautiful, Thought-Provoking Poetry http://www.h-systems.net/p1.htm [This message has been edited by hsystems (edited 04-12-2000).] |

A rose is a rose is a frog --) Your clever start of this poem was very picturesque. The ending was a bit of a suprise. Good luck with froggie --) And, yes, sometimes, you do have to wade through frogs until you get the prince. Keep up the writing --) Teresa King |
