Nonsense and a clock Our grandfathers clock stood years by the door, Always struck four and never struck more. My grandson moved it inside to be fixed. And now it strikes, but it only strikes six. It bothered me so, being used to four, That I set it once more back by the door. So now it strikes as it did once before. And I am content with four and no more. If this reminds you of actions you take, It's only an unmake of a mistake. Now some may resolve this gesture to sense, But to me, it's just a bit of nonsense. Don't try to resolve it, read it and smile, It's only a poem of an old mans wile. |
