(This is not the best of poems but this my opinion, however (not popular opinion) and I challenge you to agree or disagree in poetic terms. This could be real interesting subject from a lot of different peoples points of views.) Please excuse the length of this. I await your better talents. Bring back the hat! It sailed away on the winds of fashion Now its mostly a nostalgic memory Of a time when women wore skirts Men wore ties and white shirts at the office During a time Nice ladies never swore And men still opened doors I'm not complaining That era is past A lot of things have changed for the better Yet still I wish the hat would come back I'm old enough to remember And young enough to care Of what sophisticated charm Raidiated from the face of a Women in a hat These days if your lucky You might get a passing glance Of a lady in a hat On TV or a gala event. As for me, I would like to simply state I feel cheated My grandma wore a hat My mother got the chance too All I ever got to wear was an Easter bonnet! Now I believe it is time for a change I would like to wear one Whenever I took the notion Without making a big commotion Or creating a public stare If I could wear one Without creating a stir Hearing whispers About that crazy lady in the hat I could wear one anywhere I could wear one with dress I could wear one with a gown I could wear one with my jeans I could wear one into town I could wear one to church I could wear one to work I could wear one in the yard I could wear one in the car I could wear one in the mall I could wear one just anywhere I pleased Not just for a special day Not just for a special reason Not just to keep the sun out of my eyes But just because.. I wish That when I woke tomorrow I woke to find Hats on heads of all I met For although I'm not shy I'm not a leader I'm a most sensitive type I don't like to be a main attraction I just would like to be In the hats of those Who have gone on before I can't understand Why the hat disappeared When it was the bra women burned! Yet the bra survived! I hear by take one small step, Backward For womenkind Of America And all those who agree with me I hearby decree I have the answer The perfect solution For the bad hair day.. Ladies, lets get the Hat out of the box! |

Did you notice, though, that they still sell hat boxes? This poem says it all. And brought back a lot of memories Liz |

I see I am not the only one to agree, but maybe Hat pin would never do, we might get arested for a concealed weapon, now maybe this problem could be solved with Velcro? |

I do where hats and that is that if they can't see the flair then I really don't care. ![]() I enjoyed your poem! |

I love hats too, I think they are charming but like you I've only worn them to church on Easter because wearing them at other times would bring stares which I don't like. I do wish they would come back in fashion. Denise |
