River of joy, river of sorrows
Take away my yesterdays,
          give me my tomorrows
River of life, river of death
Bring to me the things
that I have not attained yet

River of my heart, river of my soul
Let your life flow through me
          help me reach my goal
River of my body, river of my mind
Help me to seek these things
          help my body to find

River running deep, river running wide
Take my wishes with you
across the time, across the tide
River ever flowing, river never ending
Take my heart with you
          as it begins its mending

Sven, I love it. The river image is nice and this was very well expressed.

Sven....I can feel the river flowing with your words....each ripple and sigh of the water.  Nature is a wonderful thing and offers much inspiration.  This is an excellent piece.

Sven~
I found this poem to be
absolutely fascinating.

'River running deep, river running wide
Take my wishes with you
across the time, across the tide.'

Lovely thoughts.

Sven....the river is powerful yet gentle.  No matter what it keeps on flowing towards whatever it is that is drawing it on.  I guess the lesson would be look ahead to what could be, not back to what was??  Am I close here?  The river has always fascinated me....it is almost endless like the sky....no definite beginning or ending.  Could it be that way maybe?  Let me know...

It's amazing how moving waters can smooth the roughest and sharpest stones over time.  Hang in there, those waters are healing too, BTW.  If your hearts floating in there somewhere, you'll be ok.    Beautiful poem sir.

You've embarked upon a lovely, rhythmic swell with this poem, Sven. A beautiful undercurrent of devotion and desire.
