   (reposted because ....of love)

The Everlastingness of Love

Dear mother long gone help me,
it is time for new beginnings,
no more burnt orange
and brown of the room,
be gone the dullness of the day.
All your paintings in the closet
stacked in dust and cobweb covers,
they will add some color to this room.

Upon the floor spread like stamps
your paintings where you wrote your heart song
now cover the envelope of my dull beige rug,
color transformed into red and purple,
deep blue and periwinkle.
To heck with okra, I will have
sunflower yellow
and this almost black red of rose
and here the foggy gray mist of ocean.

I am trapped in the middle
of a room of rainbows.

Dear mother
I am not a child,
weep for the child in me,
for the wife who almost sold her soul,
then weep no more.
I have called forth new beginnings
crossed out days that made for sadness.
Rejoice in the everlastingness of love.

In the dew of little things,
the heart finds its morning
and is refreshed.
(ee cummings)

The first time I ever saw the word "everlastingness". I love your "crossed out days that made for sadness" and "the everlastingness of love". May you rejoice in love forever.

Martie,

Let me tell you something.  (Like you can stop me right?)  This is an outstanding tribute.  It kind of reminds me of that poem Shakespear wrote about that chick and he stated that she would never be forgotten.  Well she wasn't going to be forgotten b/c his tribute to her would keep her memory alive forever.  I think the same is here with your mother.  She would be proud.

take care, jm

Do you live by the book, do you play by the rules
Do you care what is thought by others about you
If this day is all that is promised to you
Do you live for the present, the future the past...

Martie, darling Martie~
New beginnings of the heart are such an awakening. May yours be blessed with the warming hues of spring ... and the vivid colors of your mother's paintings.

I celebrate your 'dawn', my sweet friend.

Beautifully aware are your phrases.
May peace, love and beauty surround your heart.
Love you~

this is lovely, Martie.  I, too, am glad you reposted, since I'm a bit of a newbie here myself.  I especially love the stamps/envelope image - calls a lot to mind, all of it worthy of being called.  thanks

Rick
