Why? Why doth the light forsake me in my need? Why doth the dark hold sway against my will? When will the storms of agony recede? Why does the past forever haunt me still? Alas, the peaceful fantasy of sleep, The refuge of a lonely, broken man. The rising price of living grows too steep, And loving seems to take but what it can. How does one then escape reality? And must we choose to forge ahead in pain? Somewhere, someday I’ll have serenity. No matter how elusive to attain. The vacuum of eternal frigid night, Doth crush the very will to stand and fight. |

Sometimes it's better just to 'forge' on without asking why....I like this one. |

You have a talent! This sonnet is something everyone can relate too. I enjoyed it. Elizabeth "He have his goodness now. God forbid I take it from him!" -The Crucible |

David2, Love your sonnets. Perhaps it is not up to ask to question why, but to accept things as they are? Just a thought... Friends are friend forever if the Lord's the Lord of them and a friend will not say never cause the welcome will not end. --Michael W. Smith |
