You've treasured my soul, or so you have said.
On damaged ground you've known that I tread.
I've engulfed you so real in my trust-weary hold,
when finally secured, you've cracked this safe mold.

You've held my hand, my strength you have praised,
knowing I've conquered the demons once raised.
Yet, the faith in my heart you claim to hold true
crumbles, dismayed at words not so new.

All the time knowing the self I've become
you've kept up the farce that our dreams are one.
Yet, then, through the fire, you've stolen some flame, igniting it now in hate-words of blame.

Then when faith dies, as always it must,
the rest of the days I spend burying trust.
Only in moments I will remember time's lies
and find myself mourning your loving disguise.

I used to feel this way, but no longer. Love is worth the pain of rejection. Someday the one love of your life will appear, and even if he never does, the search for him can be exhilarating. Beautiful poem.

The emotion pours out of this piece.  Hurt feelings not soon to pass.
Good expression and rhyme.

Very touching poem, I'm sure we all feel this way sometimes when our trust is broken.  Build it back up and move on, your right man is out there somewhere!

Thank you all for your responses.

David2- I know what It is like to feel this way and fully trusting, even with the same individual at different times. This is my greatest struggle.

Danny H-True. Hurt feelings need at least to be expressed before then begin to pass. Thanks for your response.

busylisa..  I still hope the right man is my husband...ha. But this poem expressess how, even in a trusting, loving relationship, our faith can be so challenged.

ES-Thank you as well. You are right. Trusting and Loving can sometimes be tested agian and again!

Christie~
When faith is challenged ...
we are uplifted to meet the challenge.
Wonderful soul-seeking message.
I just plain down-right like it !

Love this piece!  I have been in this position myself, and it does take a while to get over.  I buried my trust, too, but after a long enough time, I found myself digging it back up again.  Time heals all wounds.

Marge, Thank you for such nice feedback. It means a lot coming from you.

Terry, Thank you very much. It is very true what they say about time. I have learned that lesson "time" and "time" again.

Ths poem expresses those feelings of trust betrayed so well...when you finally let someone into your mind and heart to discover later it was only deception and lies...and each time it happens it becomes harder to trust.
