Killing Time (slight rewrite) Upending the hourglass, watching rain fall in sheets over an angry untamed sea, even the gulls have gone to hide on this colorless winter’s day. My cocooning house shudders, gusts rattle the doors, vibrate the mullioned panes, they sing in unanimity calling me out to play. Though a fire blazes in the hearth, I’m cold, curl up for comfort, let the weight of the day come down and release to sweet slumber. A dream of recall, a golden day spent in simplicity, sun warming skin, hopping hot sand, contrasting cold sea, riding the perfect wave, perfectly. Building sand castles with children, till the tide came to claim them again, when they asked us why this was you said life is just that way. © 2000 Corinne Bailey [This message has been edited by Corinne (edited 03-21-2000).] |

Though a fire blazes in the hearth, I’m cold, curl up for comfort, let the weight of the day come down and release to sweet slumber. ... maybe a nice long back massage would help too. Parker |

That was good advice, Corinne, because that is the way life is.....building sand castles, watching them fall then building them again. Excellent writing |

Corinne~ Super recall for a chilly, rainy day. I especially liked 'hopping hot sand' Now THAT stirred a memory. Sandcastles reclaimed ... wonderful image. Wonderful, gal. ~*Marge*~ Better take him up on that backrub !) ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |
