Living here, chained ... in between two lives, searching for places where passion survives. Consistent in the failure of this unions high expectations, loves illusion fades with disappointing revelations. Reality recognizes the most honest reasons ... as promises made ... pass like the changing of seasons. Accidental acquaintances give comfort and satisfy, exchanging emptiness for a contented alibi. Seeking moments of much needed distraction, longing evokes intense physical reaction. Need and desire cross boundaries ... cross lines, the pleasures we seek to ease pain's confines. Is a sin of thought, a sin in your mind, when is adultery of thought conceived and defined. Can a broken heart make a true separation ... between commitments made and aching desperation. Love's vows shouldn't be a life sentence or conviction... nor should it place passion and desire on restriction. What becomes of those marital bonds-- when neglect makes a heart eventually wander beyond. What denies the promise of to have and to hold... until death do us part, together we grow old. Wise men say love is blind, and this now holds true, your heart still unable to see ... the way I need you. Living here chained, in between two lives... searching for the place where this love survives. Janet Marie and you can say baby... baby can I hold you tonight maybe if told you the right words... at the right time, you'd be mine... baby can I hold you tonight... tracy chapman |

I honestly can't choose certain lines from this one. I would end up copying most of it. It was like you were in my head writing this... the lines are kind of eerily like words i would choose...*S* |

Okay....we are getting spooky....there is too much alike in our souls, I thought once I may have a split personality but we decided we didn't like that word...lol. Very seriously though I think I only have two words to describe this...I understand. *AWHs* Whatever strength I add to myself becomes my greatest weakness, while whatever weakness I'll consciously endure will be replaced with a strength that is not my own. This is really interesting to read Janet.."when neglect makes a heart eventually wander beyond" and "your heart still unable to see...the way I need you." You have really expressed your frustration well. James |

Janet Marie, This is said so well and I too can truely relate to such feelings. It is so hard to nurture a love when it has already suffered from neglect. I love of this poem but I especially like "when is adultery of thought conceived and defined. Can a broken heart make a true separation ... between commitments made and aching desperation." "Adultery of thought"....hmm can anyone not relate at times? Grant that I may not judge my niegbor until I have walked a mile in his moccasians Native American prayer |

~Janet~ Yes, its your Amy-girl bringing up this poem lol. I wanted to catch up on your work that you posted while I been gone running around like a chicken with my head off. From this piece...I see you are as good as ever. While I represent sunshine girl and all...I could totally relate to this poem. When do we say enough is enough about the "vows" we take when in love, and just move on. When has enough time passed when we aren't bound by those chains. You my friend, have said it all right here. I applaud you for your strength, but even more so your ability to express it so beautifully! love ya, AMY |

This poem was thought-provoking and well-crafted. As I see it, with the little experience I have, passion dies unless you shake it up, which is the reason I dislike routine. Doubt and hope equal passion. Give him some doubt...suddenly--alas passion. |

JM, this is exceptionally well written I think. The expression is so vivid and brings home some inner feelings. You get extra credit for the rhyme. Lots of thought went into this poem for sure. Great work. DH |
