The rolling rhythm of the sea
Still sings its soothing harmony
Upon the rocks crescendos crash
Creating sprays that gently splash.

The briny air chimes that I'm home
Beside the ebb and flow of foam
Along the endless stretch of shore
It saturates, fills every pore.

The seagulls soar so gracefully
Above a sun-flecked tapestry
Of undulating gray and blue
From days of old yet always new.

The sanderlings dash to and fro
Delightful is their feathered show
As with the ocean they play tag
In hopes a tasty meal to snag.

We stroll the shoreline’s velvet sand
Enjoying, sharing, hand in hand
Removed so far from churning strife
That is the bane of city life.

Perhaps, one day, right here we’ll stay
Between the ocean and the bay.

Denise~

This one is just beautiful.
Carefree and light it soars.
Sending me in rapture
to the nearest shore.

I can taste the salty air
on each verse.
Truly an exquisite poem.
Lovely, Denise.

Denise,
You sure do know how to paint a picture with words! This was simply lovely. The ocean is such a wonderful place, can mesmerize me in a heartbeat! Wonderful piece of art you have here, my friend. Take care,

I sit in class all day
Wanting to go out and play
In the ocean with water so cool
'stead of german like a fool

Staring out at skies of blue
Stuck in class like super glue
Teacher prattling on and on
Cant stop the urge to yawn

Oh I would love to be at the beach
Instead of in here with the Teach
Sand and sun and relaxation
not this mental exasperation!

Great Poem Denise   The beach sounds wonderful right now, the weather is perfect for it here

Denise,
this is PERFECTION of poetry..you filled my mind with these beautiful images...I have never seen an ocean but i feel like i have now...
see I got sand in my shoes...
take care, jm

Now for me some words come easy
But I know that they don't mean that much
Compared with the things that are said when lovers touch
You never knew what I loved in you
I don't know what you loved in me
Maybe the picture of somebody you were hoping I might be

Are you sure you weren't in Florida with me. What superb poetry. It is always a pleasure to read verses by a poet of your caliber.

Thank you Nan and Elizabeth for reading and for your lovely comments! I envy you living so close to the ocean, Nan! That's one of my dreams! Elizabeth, I went to Cape May, NJ on Thursday for the day. We had a great time. It went too fast of course! Maybe I'll get there again soon!

The crisp ocean air
pinning back my hair,
ocean's cool water lows
tickling at my bare toes,
the vision of foreverness
gives way to my creativeness,
so with this brilliant poem made
to flow even and weaved like a braid
I thank the kind artist here first hand
for taking me to visit this peaceful land.

Hi Denise, I just searched your poems,
and I see you get lots of comments.
I can see why.

But, this piece is gorgeous.  Thanks for
sharing --- and I have just learned that
when commenting, I can throw a poem like
this right to the top where it belongs.

Hello Miss Denise, however did I manage to miss this gem? So glad to find this. Reminded me of Lake Superior, just like the ocean except fresh water. Never been to the ocean so I can't say for sure but you took me there with your words. Hope you're doing well!
