I sit here, staring at a blank screen
trying to put into words
what you mean to me.
But the words never come..

Thoughts race through my head--
there is so much I want to tell you
but you already know.

You know just what to say to bring a smile to my face,
when I need a touch or a warm hug.
You know when I need to talk or just to cry,
or that I just want to laugh and have fun.
You know what I'm thinking, sometimes, even before I do...

Looking back at my life
I can't ever imagine your not being in it.
Had I known you then, as I know you now,
I wouldn't have let you get away so easily..
You are just the person I'd want to spend my life with.

They say things happen for a reason..
I don't need any reasoning to tell me
that I never again want to think of my life without you in it.
You are a vital part of my world now and I never want to let you go.

Although you and I lead completely separate lives,
both of us very aware that our paths may never cross,
we are connected, we are one.
The river of our friendship flows very deeply within my heart
where it will flourish with every moment we have together.
