Raining again, yes, you might even say
it was a dark and stormy night,
best be heeding the warning signs,
though you’ve been given the green light.

Stay focused on what lies ahead,
this road might throw you a curve,
for it leads to a darkened tunnel,
do be careful not to swerve!

It’s slippery, oh it’s quite wet,
from the rain, don’t you know?
It isn’t what you’re thinking,
do you think I’d stoop that low?

Then again, I COULD say,
I know this tunnel very well,
sometimes it can be tricky,
and it gets as hot as hell!

One thing I know for certain,
you’ll want to take it sure and slow,
it takes extra skill and caution,
just watch out for the tidal flow!

To enter in that tunnel
Has always been my goal
But what bad luck!!!!
It takes a buck
And I can't pay the toll!!!!!!!

So there I was at 2 a.m.
Just flying down the road.
I was moving way too fast
Due to my heavy load
But there was just one final curve
And I would be home free.
I had to get to Corinne's tunnel
Waiting there for me.

I knew that it was dangerous,
The opening was small
And my old rig was pretty large
And ran on alcohol
But I felt I could make it fit
With little room to spare
And so I sped to Corinne's tunnel
Waiting for me there.

I didn't see the caution lights
That gave off amber glares.
I didn't see the sign that read
"Closed down for repairs".
My Peterbilt had too much speed.
It had a head of steam
And, wildly, it crashed up against
The tunnel of Corinne's.

The doc says I will walk again -
My driveshaft was destroyed.
I only have fond memories
Of drives I once enjoyed.
So listen to me, truckers all,
These few wise words I speak....
Don't ever challenge Corinne's tunnel
On the wrong day of the week!!

Marge, you wouldn't believe it, but I got the idea when driving through a tunnel today!

Balladeer, you get a lifetime free ride, my "deer!"

Wayout Walt, told ya not to go so fast!!!

Nan, don't leave home without them!  (Grin)

Oh My!
Ok, like so as I was reading I was thinking... "nah... she wouldn't be talking about that"~
Then I thought... "she's talking about life... yeah that's it"~
THEN I start reading some of the replies and I think..."Oh my gosh!  How hmm... what's the word?!"~

Thank you, Mollie, Marie and Suthern,
really fun one to write, however, I do think Balladeer's was even better!!!

Corinne, this poem is a real brain drainer.
I've been on the road too long, trying to manage all the curves though. Rain hasen't slowed me down, its mainly sunny, and nice sceanery. Can't wait to get to the tunnel, I'll be careful though and patient. Most tunnels have a light at the other end and I'll aim for it.

Parker

I'm going to have to write another version for this poem in keeping with everybody else.
But this suits my adventure in life right now, great poem from you as always.
