The RiverDo you hear? A riverbank just beyond the night Where morning pauses to unfold her light And the river that rolls beneath the new day's sun Whispers of love and of thoughts that are spun Into shimmering threads, cascading emotions Touch upon touch, hearts ripe with devotion And just as the water's calm caressings will soothe The most jagged of rocks into stones dark and smooth Your words flow evenly over my barest of soul as the flood of the river's deep scent takes control. And for a moment I all but forget, precious lover, That you lie on one bank, and I, on the other. ![]() |

"And just as the water's calm caressings will soothe...the most jagged of rocks into stones dark and smooth" this is lovely. And you are only a river apart. So close yet so far away. James |

Claire, this is lovely...the last two lines made me sigh...but then I thought of bridges. |

Claire~ Such an exquisite longing. I hear the moving waters of your heart, flooding the mind with scheme. Building bridges to love now will be the lover's dream. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Claire This poem has such deep meaning, very deep indeed The riverbanks are covered in love's seed Eine Traene faellt Um niemals zu trocknen A teardrop falls Never to dry Beautiful, sad and yet beautiful ((((you)))) L. & S.P. The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools. |

Soft and beautiful, Meadowmuse. This is a great one to read aloud, it flows wonderfully. *Krista Knutson* "Every moment marked with apparitions of your soul...." ~*Sarah McLachlan- Do What You Have To Do*~ |

Corinne ~ The mystical magical mood is what usually inspires me to write. Thank you for reading. Chris ~ thank you, Chris. Sometimes poetry and the outside elements just seem to fit together, one inspiring the other, perhaps? Hoot Owl ~ thank you...so glad you enjoyed it. Claire, you obviously put a lot of thought in your poetry and, doing so, cause your readers to think, also. This is no exception. Excellent work. |

This is excellent Clair. I would offer some advice, but seeing as I am in a situation just as perplexing, I will just leave you with Thank you. It was a treat to read this. |

Wonderful Meadowmuse. . . you have indeed the gift for expressing the subjects of your name. . . The river flows for all of us. . . you have captured that well. . . and it's nice to see your picture for the first time! --------------------------------------------- That which gives light must endure burning --Victor Frankl |
