Beneath the worn exterior Lies a heart that's known great loss His memories are not faded About the lines he had to cross. The secrets are still held inside No-one knows his pain You can't trick him into telling We've all tried in vain. You are only left to imagine At what horrors he has tasted And grasp the meaning in his words On how much life is wasted. Now he sits and reads the news And his eyes grow damp and sad But I still hold the soldiers love My dear sweet brave Grandad. |

Thank you for sharing this, it too reminded me of my grandfather. He's gone now but all the picture's I have of him were in uniform. Parker |

This was a neat way to talk of a "Soldier of Love"!! It is cool that the challenge reminded you of your Grandad and gave you inspiration to write about him!! Good job!! Bridgette Creation of woman from the rib of Man: She was not made from his head to top him; nor out of his feet to be trampled upon by him; but out of his side to be equal with him, under his arm to be protected, and near his heart to be loved." |
